At its full length, Our Waltzes was famously known as the ‘1-ton ballet’ due to the number of lifts required by the male partner in this duet. This presentation will consist of three movements from the 33-minute original, with Teresa Carreno’s piano composition played live onstage with the dancers. Showing the expressive possibilities of ballet, this duet can be compared to ballroom dancing, but with a style that is more humanistic. Infused with Latin influences, its movement is graceful and its theme romantic. It is a fixture in the repertory of most ballet companies world-wide.
